Equality and Diversity

One of our CARE Values is that we are Respectful & Inclusive”Manx Care is working to achieve equality, diversity and inclusion through a number of its activities.

 

  • Manx Care developed its first ever People, Culture and Engagement Strategy, which was approved by the Manx Care Board and published in September 2023. The strategy sets out our vision to build a fully engaged, inclusive and high performing workforce that lives our Manx Care values. One of the ambitions within this is to build and develop our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion. Manx Care is currently finalising its EDI Strategy.
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champions across Manx Care were recruited and trained to provide support for those with protected characteristics under the 2017 Equality Act, and to act as role models for inclusive behaviours.
  • We recognise and celebrate a large number of awareness days, and ask that teams get in touch with us if they would like to be included.
  • The People and Culture Group meets frequently with an aim to improve culture across the organisation – equality, diversity and inclusion play a big role in this development.
  • Manx Care is currently recruiting Staff Network Leads to encourage links between colleagues and provide feedback to Manx Care via the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Forum.
  • In 2024/25 we will publish our Belonging Strategy, building on our work with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champions and establish an EDI Forum. Manx Care intends to be a role model and leader for all government bodies by implementing best practice approaches for inclusion.
